"Betty" (Woodson), "Mr. William Wayland, an old merchant & exemplary citizen of Roanoke, d. at Brownsville, Saline county, on the 1st instant (1 Aug 1879), of dropsy of the heart, aged 62 years, 7 months and 17 days. He had been ill for months, and had gone to Sweet Springs with the hope of regaining his lost health, but had been there but a few days when d. relieved him of his suffering. Mr. Wayland was b. in Orange county, Va., and removed with his parents in 1821 to Howard county, Mo., and had resided in Roanoke since 1841. He was united in marriage in 1849 to Miss Bettie Woodson, who survives him with six children.
