JAMES

Re: William JAMES familyHi. I'm trying to confirm a family rumor that the rest of mygreat-great grandfather's ( Williamm James SR.) family emigrated fromIowa to the Macon Co. Mo. area. Consequently, because of vagueness, Iam including Randolph Co. in a blanket inquiry of Macon and itscontiguous neighbors. It has been reported that his date of death was 1876, but that isunconfirmed.A widower-emigrant from Wales, he brought his six children to America--- The children: William Jr., David, Stephen, John, Gad & Mary.Arriving in NY in 1852, he then traveled west (about a year later)through Utica, NY, to West Liberty, Ia. to the Macon Co.(???) area -where the Iowa family lost them.Gad and Mary stayed in Iowa. She married and he set himself up infarming (after a trip to the mines in Virgina City, Mt. to raise astake). It has been suggested that Stephen went with him, but thathas not been confirmed.Anyway the Iowa family has lost all track of William Sr., WilliamJr., David, Stephen &

AUSTIN, WILSON, DIXON, DICKSON

I am still searching for information on my grandparents (WallaceThomas Austin and Auda Wilson Austin) lineage. The both were born inRandolph County near Cairo. I think there is a strong possibilitythat the Austin line includes Samuel Austin who died in February1853, Hezekiah B. Austin 1805-1873, and a Thomas W. Austin who wasmarried to Sallie. All of these appear in the Randolph County recordof deaths and wills. I'd be greatful for any information anyonemight have on these connections. In Grand Prairie Cemetary I found astone with "Louisa Dickson 1828 - 1928" inscribed on it. My thirdgreat grandmother was known, to those now living, only as "GrannyDixon" and she died in Randolph County about 1928. Phonetically thenames are the same. Does anyone have information on this LouisaDickson? My Granny Dixon lived with her daughter's (James B. andEliza Wilson) family north of Cairo until her death.
