Carole Brace - DAWKINS/GRAY
I was wondering if anyone has information on the family of Yancy Gray of Randolph County, Missouri. Recently I received a copy of page 244 of the 1850 census for Randolph Co., MO. I have been researching various Dawkins families in Randolph County and on page 244 appears the widowed Mary "Polly" Rose Dawkins and her four children - Elizabeth, John E., William A., and Mary G. Also on the same page was Yancy Gray and his family. One of Yancy's children is Fannie Gray age 10 who later would marry her neighbor William A. Dawkins.
Seeing the Gray family got me interested in knowing more about them. According to the census information Yancy was born about 1808 in North Carolina. I believe the Martha Gray in his household (age 24) is not his daughter but his wife. Other children in the house are John (17), Susan (14), the already mentioned Fannie (10), Jackson (3), and Martha (1). I was wondering if anyone knew if Yancy Gray had any other children and who his first wife was. Yancy gets a brief mention in "Old Families of Randolph County, Missouri" but nothing is mentioned of his family. He apparently came out to Randolph County about 1831 or thereabouts as he is listed as having bought land that early in the publication "Original Land Purchases of Randolph County, Missouri"On another note I noticed that Polly Dawkins is not listed as the head of household in the census. The head of household is listed as Mary Wright age 72. Does anyone know of a connection between the Wright and Dawkins families? Thanks in advance for any information or comments. 4/3/99
Ed Jenkins - PORTERS CHAPEL CHURCH
Does anyone have knowledge of a church called Porters Chapel Church that was located in a rural area in Randolph County? Thanks. 4/3/99

Patricia (Tuley) Brink - HEIFNER/TULEY
Looking for information on the HEIFNER Family. A Margaret Heifner married a Charles S Tuley, 5 Nov. 1866 in Randolph Co., MO. in the 1880 census it shows a Mattie Heifner directly below the Tuley's in the census report. Seeing as Margaret's maiden name was Heifner, and Mattie is shown as 26 yrs old, I'm thinking Mattie is Margaret's sister. I don't have the parents name of Margaret. Margaret was born 1 Jan 1844. Can anyone give me the parents names of Margaret and their children. I've done extensive work on the Tuley family and would be able to provide information regarding the Tuley's. Thank you. 4/3/99
Bill Helbron - BRADLEY/TABOR/RILEY/TEDFORD
I saw the bio on the site regarding Gen. Omar Bradley and I was wondering if you or someone can help me with providing a link. My information has William Goggin RILEY's (23 Jul 1823 - 7 Feb 1898) second marriage to Susan Bradley TABOR, widow of Thomas TABOR of Macon Co., in Randolph Co. on 9 Aug 1874. His first marriage was to Elizabeth Jane TEDFORD on 25 Dec 1849 in Randolph Co. I have to presume, because of the
years involved, that this "link" must go back to the General's grandfather. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. William Goggin RILEY was a brother of my great-great grandfather, John Fredrick RILEY. 4/3/99
Nancy Holt - CAMPBELL/BENNETT/MILLER/BONEY/HALLIBURTON/RODGERS
I am looking for more information on the above names. I know that Sarah Bennett CAMPBELL and Camillus D. CAMPBELL had a farm near Moberly Mo. around 1850 and that the family came from Kentucky. I cannot seem to trace them any further back.
George Bennett CAMPBELL was born in 1863. He married Samantha Jane MILLER (from Pennsylvania) in about 1880. They had two children; Enola (b 1883) and Evie (b. c1885 d. age 4). The area they lived in was called Bear Thicket.
Enola was my grandmother. She speaks of the families (relatives) who lived in the same area as BONEY, HALLIBURTON and ROGERS. In the 1860 census I found all of these names listed under Salt River
Township. Could this be the right area?
I am trying to find out (1) where the Campbells came from in Kentucky, (2) where they are buried in Missouri (3) anything that will help me trace these ancestors. 4/3/99
