I am looking for the
community of "Sweetsprings" in Randolph County.It was most likely
southwest of Moberly. My 3rd great grandfather,Samuel Austin
provided (for $1) land in 1849 for the SweetspringsBaptist Church
Meeting House. He had already donated adjacent landfor the School
House. We have looked, but Sweetsprings does not nowappear on any
map or record we have been able to find. Hopingsomeone can
help...

My great grandparents were William Frank
Burton and Savilla Jane(Beaman) Burton. They married in Greene Co.
ILL in 1886 and had thefollowing children. Mary C. 1877, Georg W.
1879, Earnest Earl (mygrandfather) 1883. William Frank died in 1884
and for some reasonSavilla and the children ended up in Randolph Co.
Mo. She had a sonin 1887 there named Ellick Randolph Broadwater. I
don't believe shewas married to Broadwater, because she remarried in
ILLinois in 1897using the last name of Burton. I believe Mary C. and
possibly GeorgeW. remained in Randolph Co. Any information would be

Need information regarding George W. REED, born
VA cira 1830. Notknown when he arrived in MO. Married Rachel PITNEY
on 17 Jan 1856 inHoward CO, MO. She dau. of Nathaniel PITNEY of
Ohio. George, withwife Rachel and 2 children (Iva J & Lucy), on 1860
Randolph Co.census of Prairie Twnsp. On 1870 census, found Rachel
and 3 children(Iva, Lucy & Lucellous) living with a PITNEY in Silver
Creek Twnsp.Have searched all twnsp. census records for Randolph CO,
but noGeorge in 1870. George died circa 1873. Family history
indicates heshot himself due to ill-health. Need information
regarding his dateof death, place of burial, siblings, parents.
Notation from TheHuntsville Herald states "Reed,George - Rachel Reed,
Adm'r of theestate settlement 2nd Monday in May 1873". Have reviewed
Probate,Will, Executor Bond, and Letters of Administration records
onmicrofilm but found nothing.Please help! I am stuck and don't know

Missouri about 1850, first to MillerCounty, then possibly Audrain
County, finally settling in BooneCounty. He married Mary Ann Mariah

1811. He died in Randolph County, MO September 1,1891 and was
buried on the home place northeast of Huntsville alongwith his wife
Sarah Walden Skinner. We think his parents wereBenjamin and Charity

10, 1869. He was described as "one of theearliest settlers of

in Moberly, but not sure. His name wasHarry W. Bugg. Birth: February
27, 1896 & death in St Louis in 1981on February 2. Mother's name:
Mary Baker. Fathrs first name unkonwn.Her birth date: February 27,

My gggrandmother, Mary Anna (Maria Anna?)
Schmidt came from Moberly,MO. She married William Anthony (or Anton)
Bordewick and moved toKansas, where they lived in Seward and
Larned.My grandmother told me her grandmother's sister, Justina, was
marriedto an Epping. I have found a record of Justina Schmidt
marryingBernard Epping in Randolph Co. on October 25, 1881. Does

I am searching for information
relating to Susan E. BRADLEY, born inRandoph County, MO on 12 Oct
1835. She died on 27 Jul 1909 and wasburied in the Corinth Cemetery.
Her first husband was James 'Alfred'COLEMAN, a second husband may
have been William DOUGLAS. She waslastly married, for approximately
20 years, to my ancestor, Reuben O.BENNETT. They were married and
resided in adjacent Chariton County.Susan's children were: Ardelia
'Delia' May, William Otis 'Ode', Jesse'Jess' T., Erna and a child who
died in infancy. I have an old photolabeled with Susan's name. I
would like to discover the names ofSusan's parents and siblings and

and wife Sarah Jane (Pollard) livednear Levicks Mill and various
communities in North Randolph Co.during the years 1836-1917-(Wm's
birth and death years) Theirchildren were: Mary (m. Thomas Compton),

My family history indicates that Mattie Palmer
married Asa Bennett.I have found an Asa Lee and Mattie Belle Bennett
buried in theOakland Cemetery in Moberly. I also discovered an Asa
and SarahBennett, whose son John and Falby (Phelps) Bennett also had
a sonnamed Asa.Now the age of my possible Asa (b. 1869) doesn't match
up to childrenof these two families but I'd bet my Asa is at least
another grandsonor even great-grandson (it appears the Asa naming

I'm looking for information about my great
grandparents, GeorgeMartin Winn and Virginia Harrison Freeman. They
had one son,Ambrose Benton Winn. I have their marriage certificate
(1912)which shows they were from Higbee. My dad seems to recallthem
living near Moberly at some time. Ultimately they boughtfarmland
near Fayette. In his funeral service George's (mostlycalled Mart)
parents are given as Ambrose Warner Winn andLydia Cleeter Winn. It
also suggests he had at least four sistersand one brother, but I
don't have any names or dates there.Would really like to know my
great grandmother, Virginia'sparents' names for starters. Am told
that Harrison, her middlename, is also a family name; I'd always
misinterpretted it as hermaiden name. Only recently did I discover

John went insane, died in theinsane asylum and Edgar was accused of

Searching for info on the family of William
and Hannah (HUFFMAN)GODDARD. This couple married in Aug 1807 in
Monongalia Co, Virginia,(now West Virginia). William was born 1785
in Pennsylvania and hisparents and siblings lived in Greene county.
This couple appears onthe 1820 Greene Co, PA census with seven
children---five girls andtwoboys. William is then listed on an 1822
tax list for Greene Co, PA.They have not been found since that date.
An old family letter saysthe couple and their family moved to Audrain
Co, Missouri c1836.However, they do not appear on Audrain county
records. A WilliamGoddard appears on the 1840 Randolph Co,
Missouri census. Is this myWilliam Goddard? Are there still
Goddards in Randolph county? Doesanyone know anything at all about
this William Goddard? Would enjoyhearing from anyone who might know

was named John Jopling and was married to AgnesBain Jopling. I recall
my grandfather (George Jopling) telling methat when he was in college
(between 1908 and 1912) his father waskilled in a coal mine explosion
in either Missouri or Kansas. A JohnJopling (Died March 1911) and
Agnes Jopling are in the Old HigbeeCemetary listing. Was there a
coal mine accident in Randolph Countyin early March 1911 and was John

I am searching for the Rader family that lived
in theHuntsville/Moberly area. Ella/Ellen ? married ? Rader, in KY.
Ellawas Rader's second wife. Rader's first marriage had the
followingchildren: Columbus Postell Rader, Shird Rader, Sam
Rader(full namemay have been General Samuel Rader??), Ed Rader, and a
daughter whomarried a Thies. Rader and Ella had 2 daughters that I
know of Daisyand Minnie (b.1896-youngest child. Rader must have died
shortlyafter they came to MO, on the 1900 census, only Ella and the
childrenare listed. I would like to find out Rader's first name and
where heis buried in the area. There was mention in the family
of a shootingor dispute surrounding Rader's death, but no one can

Looking for an obituary
or other information about George ThomasComstock, born about 1895,
died in Moberly, MO, December 3, 1922during violence associated with
a union strike against the WabashRailroad. His spouse was Virginia
Rae Midkiff. Any information tohelp search back another generation
would be appreciated.

Hi: I am looking for
information on Zachariah Bailey. He was born in1793 in Lynchburg VA
and moved to Morgan County in 1831. Heapparently moved to Randolph
County sometime before 1834 and wasactive in politics. He was a
sheriff. He married Bertha Greer. Hedied in 1845 leaving his
children orphaned. We think he may be thebrother of Bryant Bailey.
Bryant and his family moved to Winnfield La. around 1857. Any help
would be so greatly appreciated.

about Henry EAMES reportedly killed in a coalmine accident in

Just wondering if anyone
can help me. I've been told that I have anancestor, Edward Baker,
buried at Eldad Cumberland PresbyterianCemetery and that it is in
Randolph County. I don't know if this iscorrect, but thought it was
worth asking to see if anyone has heardof the cemetery. Thanks,

I am searching for
information on Elmer DONOVAN, b. 8 SEP 1909, d.Jan 1982, I believe
his mother was Jessie DONOVAN b. 12 Nov 1888 d.Feb 1976, William M.
DONOVAN b. 1878 d. 1959, he was the father ofElmer and husband to
Jessie. Jessie and Elmer are listed as livingin all of the following
town's in Randolph Co.: Evansville, Moberly,Urbandale. Any help with
this family is appreciated.

My relative is James
Maxwell Hannah 1825 - 1886, wife Sarah JanePeeler. They took their 12
children from Randolph Co, MO to MercedCo, California. His father
was Robert Hannah 1801 - 1875. Born inTennessee-buried in Randolph
Co, MO. I have found atfamilysearch.com another Robert Hannah 1782 -
1835, born in Tennessee- buried in Randolph Co. Missouri. How would I
get to the RandolphCo., Mo Cemetery Records???

of John Henry McCune born Nov 14 1872.Siblings are
MaryEllen...Lizzie....Tom....Ann....Robert...Frank....James...Elizabe
th...Charlie...Norah....Bennie T...Susie...from Huntsville or
Moberlyarea....parents were from New Jersey. Any help appreciated.
